MiG-29 Fleets Around The World
Variants 1,2,3 und 5 of the MiG-29 were produced or modified from 1982 to 1992.
In 1991 about 40 MiG-29S were put into service with the russian air force. Besides that, about 100 MiG-29 were in stock in 1993. These aircraft had been ordered but not not sold. 1995 another 35 aircraft were exported. 7 went to Slowakia, 10 to India and 18 to Malaysia. 1996 India got some 18 more, probably MiG-29SD.
Of about 800 MiGs that were deliverded to the USSR between 1982 and 1997 some 100 to 200 were lost. After the USSR broke down, about 400 MiG-29 stayed with the russian forces. Estimates are that less than 300 of those are flyable.
